When buying a home, applying for the mortgage loan is demanding for a lot of people, but it doesn't have to be. I've got great connections to several lending companies in Washington, and they've helped me understand a few things that will make the loan application process very easy.

1 – Make a list of questions regarding your loan program

Make sure to have a list of questions with you if you don't thoroughly grasp the advantages and disadvantages of the various loan programs. It's a challenge understanding the distinctions between fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my lender contacts will assist you in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both.

2 – Determine when to lock

Locking in the interest rate designates that your lender guarantees the interest rates for the loan – normally at the time the loan application is received. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between the day you apply for the loan and closing. Those who elect to float presume interest rates will plunge in the near future. 3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to decrease your rate

Generally you can decide to pay additional points to lower the rate of your mortgage loan. Every point is 1 percent of the mortgage loan and is payable in cash at the time of closing. If you're undecided as to whether or not purchasing points is right for you, click here to use our points calculator.

4 – Compile your paperwork

Obtaining a loan requires a lot of paperwork, so you should take some time to get all your documents together. Click here to see general information that goes on a loan application.
